The I-85 North Board of REALTORS® has a number of committees that work tirelessly to accomplish planned goals each year.  Read about those committees below.  Contact the chairman of any committee to volunteer to serve.  It will be a rewarding experience for you.

Administration and Operations Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year, and the Committee is responsible for recommending changes to office policies and procedures, works as a liaison between the President, President-Elect, and the Board of Directors.  Also oversees maintenance and insurance needs of the Boards property.  Reviews personnel and salary adjustments and also gives recommendations for specific expenditures not included in the budget related to administrative and operational functions. Oversees employees and physical assets of the Association. The President and the 2 immediate Past Presidents, able and willing to serve, shall conduct a performance evaluation of the A.E. and shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Awards Committee

May be chaired or co-chaired.  The committee will assist the A.E. in securing sponsorships for the annual awards banquet, ordering awards, help in coordinating the awards banquet as well as helping with set up/breakdown of event.

Budget and Finance Committee

The Treasurer shall serve a term of 1 year and is the Chairman of the Committee and is responsible for proposing and monitoring the budget and financial obligations of the Board.  Monitors the budget and financial obligations of the Board on a quarterly basis.  Presents proposals for purchases or loans (Income/Expenses/Capital Purchases) for the Board. The Treasurer shall serve on the Administration & Operations committee, Strategic Planning Committee and the Board of Directors. The committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Communications/Public Relations/Community Service Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and shall coordinate community service projects of the Board.  Responsible for enhancing the professional image and statue of the Board and its members through media exposure, including printed publications, involvement in and support of civic and community projects.  Shall educate the general public on preservation of private property rights and/or GAR dedication to protect them and shall promote programs to the public to enhance the REALTOR® image. Coordinates all programs of American Home Week, fundraising events, Relay for Life, DFACS, Peace Place, Habitat, and Golf Tournament. The Chairman shall serve on the Administration & Operations committee, Budget & Finance committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee. The committee shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

By-Laws and Policy & Procedures Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and shall prepare such revisions or amendments to the Constitution and By Laws and the Policy and Procedures Manual of the Board and reviews annually the By-Laws, Policies and Procedures, MLS Bylaws and Million Dollar Club Bylaws and recommends to the Board of Directors any necessary changes, official resolutions or proclamations. The committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Convention Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year. They shall attend State Association of REALTOR® Conventions (GAR) and/or National Association REALTOR® Conventions (NAR) on behalf of the Board along with GAR state directors named annually.  They should give written/verbal updates to the Board on topics covered and items that affect the real estate industry. Assists with trade show/exhibits at the Annual Convention Meeting in cooperation with the staff of the Georgia Association. The Committee shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Equal Opportunity/Cultural Diversity Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and shall educate members and monitor implementation of the Affirmative Marketing Agreement/Cultural Diversity Classes and information.  Informs Continuing Education Chairman of changes, updates and topics that need to be discussed during the Board’s Orientation and Continuing Education classes. Shall develop and recommend policy promoting equal opportunity in housing and diversity within the real estate industry, identify  concerns and needs of minority members and to assist in the development of actions to address those concern and needs, and shall encourage fair housing cultural diversity education programs for the membership and shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Ethics/Professional Standards Committee

Conduct hearings in matters of alleged unethical conduct and arbitration/mediation of controversies between REALTOR® Board members, customers and clients.  Members will be chosen for Tribunal hearing panels to hear cases of alleged violations with our co-operative board (Athens). Also to implement methods of educating Board members about the Code of Ethics, its underlying rationale, and the procedures related to enforcement, including training materials and seminars. Informs Continuing Education Chairman of topics, updates and changes that can be discussed during the Board’s Orientation and Educational Classes. (Members serve 1-2-3 year staggered terms-must be a REALTOR® for a minimum of 5 years, no more than 1 member from each member office and must attend Professional Standards Training or educational classes on Professional Standards) Members are chosen for their professionalism, expertise, knowledge and integrity. The committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the BOD or by the President.

Grievance Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and the committee shall receive ethics, arbitration, and mediation requests to determine if a hearing or mediation is warranted. (This committee is established by the Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual of NAR) Needs to be 5 Primary/Secondary REALTOR® members. (Must have Professional Standards Training)

The Committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Political Affairs/Legislative/License Law Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and the committee monitors legislative matters, which affect the real estate industry at all levels of government (Local, County and State).  Keeps members informed by written and verbal reports. The committee shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

Membership Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and the committee is responsible for monthly processing of applications for membership to the Board and holding membership drives to recruit new members. The Chairman gives monthly written or oral report to the Board of Directors and at General Board Meetings. The committee shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President.

MLS Committee

Responsible for reporting any changes that affect or may affect the real estate industry and how listings are promoted.  Chairman should attend MLS meetings at GAR conventions.


Programs and Sponsors Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and is responsible for planning and implementation of the general meeting programs, location, speakers, and sponsors.  Organizes, plans and coordinates the Annual Awards Banquet in January, Christmas Party, and the Annual Board Picnic.

The committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors of by the President.

REALTORS® Education Foundation /Continuing Education Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and will provide programs and seminars to further the knowledge and professionalism of our members for continuing education credits including the Code of Ethics. The committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors of by the President.

REALTORS® Political Action (RPAC)/Strategic Planning Committee

The Chairman shall serve a term of 1 year and shall increase member awareness of our political processes, monitors new laws and ordinances which directly affect the real estate industry, and has representatives at all surrounding County Government meetings that are considered real estate matters.  Raises RPAC funds for furtherance of political candidates on a non-partisan basis.  Keeps abreast of political activities, which affect our industry. The committee shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board of Directors of by the President.

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

Nominating Committee

The committee members shall serve a term of 1 to 5 years and be responsible for annually nominating a slate of Officers, and Board of Director vacancies.  The Committee shall consists of the 4 most recent Past Presidents and current President and President Elect of the Board and will meet by July of each year.  The committee shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or the President.

Elections Committee

The committee shall perform other such duties as directed by the Board of Directors or by the President. The committee members are appointed by the President as needed.
